Yup, nuf said. But how can a photo make anyone want to dance–some kind of jolly balance of lights and darks, lines, textures, shapes…it’s all too much. Fun to look at!
I am currently working on some Medieval landscapes… Any recommendations for parts of cities, London or other, that you have visited that have very old buildings or resources that may have reference photography from long ago?
So here are six places in London what could be interesting for you: ‘St Dunstan-in-the-West’, Fleet Street. Traditionally Neo-Gothic building, built between 988 and 1070 AD. Removed in the early 19th century and rebuilt in 1831. ‘Christ Church Greyfriars’, established as a monastic church in the thirteen century. Destruction in the Great Fire of London of 1666, rebuilt in 1687. ‘St Pancras Old Church’, Pancras Road. ‘Southwark Cathedral’, a Gothic Church, built between 1220 and 1420. ‘Temple Church’, built by the Knights Templar, a late 12th-century church between Fleet Street and River Thames. ‘Lambeth Place’, the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It was acquired by the archbishopric around 1200 AD. I hope that I found something of interest for you…. 🙂
Great stuff, thank you so much for taking the time. I finally completed inking on my latest scene and mentioned and linked your blog to say thanks! I wish I could do more 🙂
Amazing picture! Looks like a still from the 1930’s, is a bit surreal.

‘was wondering if i’d seen that building last time. Railway station is it?
Your shot is very good, made me think of Chaplin’s Modern times.

Thank you Brian, very glad you like it! As far as I remember there’s not a railway station but some shops in that building.

You’re most probably right. Regardless it is a nice building and a (nicer) angle you took. Bon week-end.

Und eine gutte woche (?) (I so realize how rudimentary my German is. Need to go live over there a few months – summer preferably – to brush up.) 🙂

Let’s. 🙂 Though I’m afraid my German doesn’t stand a conversation. We can continue in english and have the beer. Tschüss.
